What’s Happening This Summer?

VFN is working hard to represent the needs of children and families at formal tables, in State House committee rooms and in direct conversations with decision makers. We know the best way to help decision makers is by sharing our stories, including what works best to support our families. Working in partnership with our colleagues and responding to the calls for change from VFN families, we’re busy this summer and we encourage families to learn more about how they can create positive change for families with children who have a disability, special health or mental health need.

Below are just a few things that are happening and what’s happening next this summer.

Public Hearings & Community Meetings

The Vermont Agency of Human Services has announced a public hearing on how to spend $162M in one-time funding to support home and community-based services (HCBS).

When:

Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 11:00 – 1:00 PM.

 Where:

Call-in: (802) 828-7667
with Conference ID: 666 001 448#

Unfortunately, nearly 50% of the funding is going to oversight and admin versus direct support for children and families. Read about the spending proposal here
