September 2017 From the Heart by Pam McCarthy

Greetings! Happy back to school time! It has been a busy summer here at VFN and we are looking forward to the arrival of our new Puppets in Education (PiE) partners at VFN the first week of September. It is exciting to think about including their considerable creativity and curricula around inclusivity and anti-bullying as we reinforce our commitment to all Vermont families of children with special needs. As Vermont’s federally-designated Parent Training and Information Center and Family-to-Family Health Information Center and national Family Voices and Parent to Parent affiliate, we truly value diversity. VFN strives to be welcoming and supportive around all disabilities and special health care needs, and to do so in culturally and linguistically responsive ways. As a child at a PiE performance said so wisely, “ We are all different; that’s what makes us the same.” We hope you can join us in our annual celebration of unique and wonderful families at Family Fun Day on Sunday, October 1 from 11 am – 2 pm at Oakledge park in Burlington. We can’t wait to see you!
From the heart,
