There is much to celebrate as we head into May! On April 5th, VFN hosted its annual conference for the first time at the Sheraton, truly fulfilling participants’ “High Hopes and Great Expectations,” if the evaluations are any indication! Alix Generous, an amazing young advocate known for her TED Talk My Life with Asperger’s , was a captivating keynote speaker, and joined 24 presenters and 37 exhibitors in making the conference a wonderful day of learning and networking. I want to give a heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this day such a success, including the many sponsors who made scholarships possible for over 60 families. I encourage you to explore the 2017 conference links on our website, as well as Kelly Morrison’s beautiful pictures . Hold the date for TUESDAY, APRIL 3, 2018, when next year’s VFN Conference will again be held at the Sheraton—yes, planning is already under way for next year!
We are happy to report that our Children’s Integrated Services Early Intervention (CIS-EI) Team will be growing by three Developmental Educators, with Maggie Haraburda and Jordan LaBonte, our current UVM interns, beginning their employment June 5th, and Skylar Haugenes, who is a UVM intern in CIS-EI at Northwestern Counseling and Support Services, coming August 14th! Join us in welcoming them to VFN as exceptional new staff!
We are working diligently to enhance collaborative partnerships with other nonprofits, businesses, and funders to ensure that our core supports and services to families of children with special needs are maintained in this challenging economic environment. If you are interested in sponsoring our work in any way, please contact me at 876-5315, ext. 207, or at Pam.McCarthy@vtfn.org. I would love to talk with you about opportunities to invest in our work throughout Vermont!
