Summer greetings to all, and a wish for good days ahead in June and July! We have been working diligently to form new partnerships and strengthen existing ones over the last few years, in support of the families of children and young people with disabilities/special health needs that we serve. We were honored to receive the Green Mountain Self Advocates’ Ally Award for 2017 at their amazing Voices and Choices Conference in May, and see it as strong evidence of the progress we have made in building bridges across organizations and among people.
This summer, we will continue to participate in the Vermont Coalition for Disability Rights and the Vermont Early Childhood Alliance’s efforts to ensure that individuals with special needs and their families are well-represented as budget and policy decisions that affect their lives are being considered. As a Family Voices organization committed to growing capacity for family leadership, we are gathering stories for our state and federal legislators so that they can better understand the implications of the choices they will be making, especially with regard to healthcare and special education. If you’d like to share a family story, please contact Claire Giroux-Williams at [email protected]. If you have ideas about issues you’d like considered for the Coalition’s legislative platforms for the next legislative session, please contact me at [email protected]. Have a wonderful summer!
From the heart,
CEO / President
