Memberships & Rates
Historically, the PIRC program has been grant funded and our services to schools and districts were free of charge. As federal funding for the PIRC grants concludes in September, however, we will no longer be able to continue this practice. As Vermont’s sole support for schools and districts that want to focus on developing better partnerships with families and the community, it is critical that Vermont’s PIRC program continue to serve our state.
With the support of Vermont’s Department of Education, Vermont’s PIRC program will transition to a Membership / Fee for Service model that districts, supervisory unions, and schools may participate in using Title I or SIG money as of the 2011-2012 School Year. Any supervisory union or district that receives $500,000 or more in Title I money is required to spend at least 1% of it on Parent Involvement activities. While districts who receive less are not required to spend a stated amount on these activities, they are required to address them. We encourage district leaders to consider collaborating with PIRC to meet these requirements and we encourage parents to ask their principals how their school might benefit from PIRC’s services.
