Navigating the System

Vermont’s System of Care for mental health is a comprehensive network that includes the Department of Mental Health’s Child, Adolescent and Family Unit, state and local agencies, mental health providers right down to school psychologists. You may access the System of Care through your child’s pediatrician or by requesting a psychological evaluation through your child’s school. You may also request a Coordinated Services Plan (also called Act 264) meeting for your child through the school or your child’s mental health provider, if s/he has one. If you have questions about local services, you may call the Designated Agency in your county or Vermont 2-1-1.  In a crisis situation, please call your Designated Agency’s crisis number or 911 for immediate assistance.  For more information, call us at 1-800-800-4005.
