Navigating the System
Vermont’s System of Care for mental health is a comprehensive network that includes the Department of Mental Health’s Child, Adolescent and Family Unit, state and local agencies, mental health providers right down to school psychologists. Your first step may be to request a mental health referral through your child’s pediatrician or a comprehensive evaluation through the school. If you have questions about local services, you may call the designated agency in your county or Vermont 2-1-1. In a crisis situation, please call your designated agency’s crisis number for immediate assistance. For more information, call us at 1-800-800-4005.
What is a Coordinated Services Plan and what should I expect at an Act 264 meeting?
Act 264 creates interagency partnerships that develop coordinated service plans for children experiencing serious mental health challenges.
