Camps and Recreation

Summer Camps and programs can provide a variety of experiences for children with Autism. There are many resources on camps and summer programs. Many communities have library, local parks and recreation programs for summer activities.

Parents may be interested in finding suggestions on selecting an appropriate camp or a checklist of things to consider when looking at camps and information on how to determine camp accessibility. They may also be looking for  tips on how to find funding and scholarships opportunities.

Some children diagnosed with Autism are on an IEP or individual education program. Summer programming for children on an IEP may be an experience at camp or summer program through their extended school year or ESY. This discussion takes place with your child’s IEP team.
