Vermont Family Network staff recently attended an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) conference and would like to share some tools with families!
For children with communication disorders, the Communication Matrix is a free assessment tool that families can use to easily understand the communication status, progress, and unique needs of anyone functioning at the early stages of communication or using forms of communication other than speaking or writing.
For children with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI), the leading cause of visual impairment, the Perkins- Roman CVI Range Endorsement gives a common language for people to use to describe CVI and was developed to close the gap in education and experience for professionals supporting individuals with CVI.
For children with autism, Autism Internet Modules (AIM) provides high-quality information and professional development for anyone who supports, instructs, works with, or lives with someone with autism. Each module guides parents through case studies, instructional videos, pre- and post-assessments, a glossary, and much more. AIM modules are available at no cost.
