Board of Directors Biographies

Jill Lyons, Vice President / Secretary
Jill and her husband Mark live in Charlotte. They have two sons; Jared, the oldest, is a recent college graduate and Ian is currently attending college in Florence, Italy. Jill is an occupational therapist and has worked with children and their families for over 25 years. She founded the Philo Center, a small non-profit in Shelburne that provides therapy for children with special needs, and served as the director there until 2007. In addition to evaluation and treatment with individuals and groups, she has provided extensive consultation and training to therapists, educators, and families throughout Vermont. Jill joined the board of the Vermont Parent Information Center in 2005 and is honored to be a founding member of the board of the Vermont Family Network.

Mike Sacco
Mike Sacco, his wife Kim, and their youngest daughter live in Underhill, Vermont. The rest of their five children have dispersed a bit, with a son living in Hollywood, CA attending Cal State-L.A, a son living in Keene, NH attending Keene State College, a daughter living in Burlington, VT while she attends UVM, and a daughter who has her degree in Accounting from UVM and is employed as a Senior Manager of Human Resources for a Vermont company.

Mike’s education includes a degree in Finance from the University of Akron, an MBA from Norwich University, completion of the local Leadership Champlain program, and he recently acquired a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. His career has provided experience in accounting, information technology, human resources, and management. Currently he is employed by Hickok & Boardman Financial Planning & Group Benefits as their Vice President of Operations.

After coming to Vermont in 1980, Mike has remained active in local community service. Beyond taking his seat recently on the board of Vermont Family Network (coming from the board of Parent to Parent of Vermont), he has been a volunteer and on the board of United Way of Chittenden County, on the board of Birch Rock Camp, a volunteer and on the board of HomeShare Vermont, a regular volunteer for the Underhill/Jericho Ecumenical Council Food Shelf, sat as a trustee of the Underhill/Jericho Water District, and also enjoys being active in the Underhill United Church where he sings in the choir, occasionally teaches Sunday School, and has been a middle school youth group advisor.

Mike’s other interests include reading, skiing, traveling, music, and writing.

Megan Sutton
Megan has just become an elementary school librarian and is still a community volunteer and advocate for families and their children with disabilities. Megan’s husband is a builder, and they have three children. One of Megan's sons is beginning college and the youngest is heading into 8th grade. Megan’s daughter, Elsie, was born at 24 weeks gestation and is now a junior in college, on the eve of departure for a Junior year abroad. Within days of Elsie’s birth, Megan and her husband attended a support group at the hospital, sponsored by Parent to Parent of Vermont, and were introduced to the benefits of peer support.

Megan is the immediate past president of the Board of Directors of Parent to Parent of Vermont. In addition to her participation on the Vermont Family Network Board, Megan is a Board member for the local Family Infant and Toddler Program, and a member of the Weybridge Zoning Board.
