Vermont Family Network Annual Conference – Wednesday, April 6, 2011
Conference to be Held for Parents and Professionals Caring for Children with Special Needs
Join Vermont Family Network (VFN) on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Stoweflake Resort and Conference Center in Stowe for a day filled with workshops, awards, networking opportunities, and much more.
This year’s conference will feature a series of workshops aimed at strengthening relationships between parents, health care providers, educators, legislators, and concentrating on the needs of children and families across Vermont.
“Vermont Family Network’s Annual Conference provides families and professionals with a great opportunity to come together and talk about ways to improve services and supports for children and families across Vermont,” said Pam McCarthy, President/CEO of Vermont Family Network. “We are very excited about the variety of workshops we have this year that will provide something for everyone.”
Workshops include: The Benefits of iPad Technology, Cyberbullying, Making it Human, Putting a Face on Laws and Regulations, Family Centered Care, Effectively Navigating Special Education, What Parents Need to Know about Guardianship, and How to be Engaged in Your Child’s Education and School Experience, to name a few.
The conference will also feature a variety of speakers including Governor Peter Shumlin and Keynote Speaker, Kathy Snow, a long-time advocate for individuals with special needs.
In addition, Vermont Family Network will hand out four distinguished awards including the VFN Outstanding Youth Award, VFN Outstanding Professional Award, Nancy DiVenere Award for Outstanding Parent or Caregiver, and Connie Curtin Award for Excellence in Education.
